gabby fluke-mogul est violoniste, improvisatrice, compositrice, organisatrice basée à Brooklyn.
Tissant des liens avec les musiques improvisées, son jeu a été décrit comme « incarné, et viscéral». gabby a collaboré avec Joanna Mattrey, Ava Mendoza, Charles Burnham, Fred Frith, Luke Stewart, Zeena Parkins, Tcheser Holmes, Mariá Portugal, Lotte Anker, Paula Sanchez, Susana Santos Silva, Lester St. Louis, William Parker et Pauline Oliveros, parmi beaucoup d’autres musiciens, poètes, danseurs et artistes visuels.
gabby a joué au Cafe OTO à Londres, à la Fondation Calouste Gulbenkian à Lisbonne, à Constellation, Chicago, à Wels en Autriche ou encore au Stone à Manhattan.
gfm est titulaire d’une licence en musique et en éducation de la petite enfance du Hampshire College, d’une maîtrise en interprétation musicale et en littérature du Mills College, d’un certificat en écoute profonde du Deep Listening Institute de RPI.
gabby organise des concerts et des ateliers, encourage les partenariats à but non lucratif et soutient diverses voix dans le domaine de la musique créative.
gabby fluke-mogul is a Brooklyn-based violinist, improviser, composer, educator, organizer and doula.
Weaving within the threads of improvised musics, their playing has been described as “embodied, visceral and virtuosic” and “the most striking sound in improvised music in years”. gabby is humbled to have collaborated with Nava Dunkelman, Joanna Mattrey, Ava Mendoza, Charles Burnham, Fred Frith, Luke Stewart, Zeena Parkins, Tcheser Holmes, Mariá Portugal, Lotte Anker, Paula Sanchez, Susana Santos Silva, Lester St. Louis, William Parker, and Pauline Oliveros among many other musicians, poets, dancers and visual artists.
gabby has toured throughout the U.S. and Europe, with performances at Cafe OTO (London), Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon), Curva Minore (Palermo), Stadtgarten (Cologne), Constellation (Chicago), Schl8hof (Wels), Pulitzer Arts Foundation (St. Louis), Roulette (Brooklyn), The Stone (Manhattan), the Lab (San Francisco), and Temescal Arts Center (Oakland).
gfm holds a BA in Music and Early Childhood Education from Hampshire College, a MFA in Music Performance and Literature from Mills College, a Deep Listening Certificate from the Deep Listening Institute at RPI, and additional certificates in birth and postpartum work.
Through decolonial and somatic praxis, gabby has taught improvisation workshops and artist lectures at Cal Arts (Santa Clarita), Exploratorium Berlin (Berlin), Rhythmic Music Conservatory (Copenhagen), Brooklyn Conservatory (Brooklyn), Mills College (Oakland), Hampshire College (Amherst), Curva Minore (Palermo), New Music Circle (St. Louis), and the New School (Manhattan).
gabby is the Executive Director of Creative Music Studio (New York) curating concert and workshop programming, fostering non-profit partnerships, and supporting diverse voices in the continuum of creative music.

Mariá Portugal joue de la batterie et chante. Compositrice et improvisatrice, elle est active sur la scène musicale brésilienne depuis l’âge de 16 ans. Elle enregistre, se produit et effectue des tournée en Amérique du Sud, en Europe, en Asie et en Océanie avec des artistes tels que Arrigo Barnabé, Elza Soares, Metá Metá, Maggie Nicols, Angelika Niescier, Fred Frith, Joe Mcphee, Nick Dunston et Tomeka Reid.
Elle est l’un des musiciennes importantes de la scène européenne depuis plusieurs années. En 2025, elle est nommée au Deutsche Jazz Preis en tant que musicienne de l’année.
En tant que compositrice, elle interprète et compose des musiques originales pour la danse, le théâtre et le cinéma. Parmi ses travaux dans ce domaine, on peut citer sa partition pour le long métrage « 1976 », de Manuela Martelli, qui a été présenté en avant-première à la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs à Cannes en 2022 et a reçu un accueil très favorable de la part de la critique.
Elle vit actuellement à Cologne.
Mariá est titulaire d’un diplôme en composition de l’UNESP (Université d’État de São Paulo).

Mariá Portugal has been active in the Brazilian musical scene since 16 years old, recording, performing and touring throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Oceania with artists like Arrigo Barnabé, Elza Soares, Metá Metá, Maggie Nicols, Angelika Niescier, Fred Frith, Joe Mcphee, Nick Dunston and Tomeka Reid.
Among her main projects is the Brazilian instrumental group Quartabê, which is currently promoting their third album. The band has already performed in festivals such as Festival Jazz & The City, in Salzburg, Austria (2017), Moers Festival, in Moers, Germany (2018), Nijmegen Music Meeting, in Nijmegen, Netherlands (2018), Frue Festival in Japan and Festival Internacional de Jazz de Buenos Aires, Argentina (2019).
As a composer, she has been performing and composing original music for dance, theatre and cinema. Among her work on this field is her score for the feature film “1976”, by Manuela Martelli, which was premiered at Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes 2022 and received great critical acclaim.
In 2020, Mariá lived in Moers, Germany. as the 13th Improviser in Residence of the Moers Festival, where she played with Angelika Niescier, Gerald Cleaver, Burkhard Beins, among others. She is currently living in Köln.
She was the curator for the city of Duisburg for the Soundtrips-NRW, a project that seeks to promote and connect free improvisers from Nordrhein-Westphalia.
Mariá holds a degree in Composition from UNESP (São Paulo State University) and a M.A. in Communication and Semiotics, from PUC-SP (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo).
