ONDANACONDA
Ondanaconda est un ensemble constitué autour de la guimbarde, un instrument à lamelle des temps immémoriaux. Polymorphe, ses sonorités reconnaissables renvoient à de nombreux imaginaires, folkloriques, cinématographiques, voire électroniques. Ondanaconda s’y consacre sous l’angle particulier de l’expérimentation électroacoustique, dans les ouvertures permises par la richesse sonore étonnante de ce synthétiseur de bouche. La guimbarde, orchestrée et amplifiée, préparée, parfois malmenée, résonne de l’imbrication des gestes des quatre musiciens. Répétitive, hypnotique, leur musique se déploie comme un rêve qu’on tisse à plusieurs, attentive à la vibration des bouches, des corps et des espaces alentours, entre polyphonie organique et synthèse analogique brute.
Ondanaconda is an ensemble centred around the jaw harp, a reed instrument dating back to time immemorial. Versatile in nature, its distinctive sounds evoke a wide range of imagery, from folklore and cinema to the electronic realm.
Ondanaconda explores this instrument from the specific angle of electroacoustic experimentation, drawing on the possibilities offered by the astonishing sonic richness of this mouth-played synthesiser. The jaw harp, orchestrated and amplified, prepared, and at times treated roughly, resonates with the intertwining gestures of the four musicians. Repetitive and hypnotic, their music unfolds like a dream woven by many, attuned to the vibrations of mouths, bodies and the surrounding spaces, somewhere between organic polyphony and raw analogue synthesis.
